Bizarre times

I have to write this to let you understand a bit what we are going through these days.
I went yesterday to a wool shop to by some wool, as it's almost winter here, and I started knitting presents for my sweethearts.
As I was walking to the car a siren started and I ran into a stairwell of some building, I took shelter from the missiles.
I couldn't believe that I'm going through this again. The last time I ran into some building during a siren was in the first golf war, and I promised myself that I will never go through something like this again. Well – guess what – I'm going through this again!
This strange and frightening situation of coming into some strangers' stairwell, some people from the street ran with me to this building and the people that live there came outside from their flats to the stairwell. We all talked to each other like we know each other for years. There was an old lady who ran from the street with me and she started to breath heavily in and out, and I know this kind of breathing, it happens to me every siren when I'm alone or with my husband, this is anxiety, so I started talking to her, I made her laugh and after the BOOM I tried to tell her that it was the sound of shooting down and not a hit, and for some reason she believed me, like I was some kind of a military expert. I think she needed to believe me. I put my arm on her shoulder and told her that everything's fine and she smiled. We waited a few more minutes and then everybody got back to the street, the people from the flats got back to their flats and it was like we never met before. We got back to be strangers.
This is now our everyday life.

Oh-My! act 1

Oh-My! Act 2

Back to life and than some - a post from 2 weeks ago

So, it seems that I have more to say than one line on facebook, so i decided to try my luck here to share some of my thoughts, experience and whatever comes along.

It's been a while since I've practiced my hoop, as i broke my arm about a month and a half ago.
It has been very hard for me not to practice, and, like every adrenalin junkie (which i didn't know I am), I got really depressed and thought I had lost my mojo.

Getting back is really hard work, but what can I say, I got my wings back, and it is the best thing ever.
There is something special in going up that hill again and fighting to get it all back. It's not only the flexibility and the strength, it's also learning to trust my body again, as it got broken once, not so long ago.

So for now, I am working to get stronger again. And, finding new moves for when i am not in my prime.

here's one:

Getting ready for Acco festival

So, Acco festival is almost here!
Been working hard getting ready. loads of rehearsals and shopping for some needed stuff.
I realized that my stomach is also really excited, and its making me know that... hmm hmm

I used to hate this fright that comes before the show, but now i'm just excited of whats coming, So here is a photo of some of the things i bought.

Performing in a festival is always very exciting. It's not the same as a show at a bar or a club, because when I perform at a club/bar I'm there only for the few minutes that I'm on the stage. When the show is over so does the magic. But on a festival it goes on for a few days. Not only I usually perform 2-3 times a day, and I stay in character the whole time, and this is fun.

I remember going with Captain Howdy to Spain to perform at a medieval festival and the Captain was acting as a Fakir and I was his assistant.

That's The Captain and me right here at the festival:

Captain Howdy as A Fakir

Me as the Fakir's assistant

Me as the Fakir's assistant

We stayed in character the whole festival, and it was so much fun getting to know my own character for a few days, and now I think that it is a really good drama exercise, to walk around in one of your stage characters for a few days, do the regular stuff and see how it works for the character.

Well, I'm off to to dye my hair. I'll keep you posted.

xxx

P.S.
If you are around Acco next week, here is a link for the show:

So what the hell is Shakshuka???

Shakshuka is the BEST breakfast ever!
It is very nutritious and very tasty and easy to make:

Cut one onion and fry it in a large frying pan in 2 spoons olive oil.
you can add garlic if you like it (we always put loads of garlic :) )

After the onion has goldend, If you want to add meat, now is the time. We usually add pork sausages, but any sausages will do.

When the meat is half done add cut vegetables like green peppers, red peppers and mushrooms.
Fry them for a while, about 10 min. and than add 5 chopped scalded tomatoes, or 1 can of chopped tomatoes.

Simmer for 15 min. and than add as many eggs as you want. Let it boil for 10 more min. or until the egg white is ready to eat.

Best to eat with bread or a bun.

Bon Appetit!
